Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games have officially pushed the Fable reboot to 2026. Originally set for a 2025 release, the highly anticipated RPG is getting extra development time, with Eidos Montreal now assisting on the project.
Playground Games’ Approach to Fable
Playground Games, best known for the Forza Horizon series, is making its RPG debut with this reimagining of Fable. The franchise hasn’t had a mainline entry since 2010, and the studio is using its proprietary ForzaTech engine to bring Albion back to life. Players can expect a fresh take on the series’ signature fantasy world and humor.
What This Means for Xbox Gamers
This delay means Xbox’s first-party lineup for 2025 loses a major release, but Microsoft remains committed to delivering high-quality exclusives. No new gameplay footage accompanied the announcement, and there’s no confirmation on when players might see another update before the revised launch window.
Platforms and Availability
Fable is set to release on:
- Xbox Series X|S
- PC
The game will also be available on Game Pass from day one.
