A wide landscape digital painting of a Lovecraft-inspired horror scene. On the left, a deep-sea abyss with an ancient temple illuminated by eerie bioluminescent lights. A lone deep-sea diver cautiously approaches while colossal tentacles and glowing eyes lurk in the darkness. On the right, a desolate wasteland with a towering mound covered in glowing eldritch runes. Four explorers in survival gear approach as shadowy, monstrous figures emerge from the mist. The scene is ominous, mysterious, and filled with cosmic horror elements.

French publisher Nacon has revealed two Lovecraft-inspired horror games during its Nacon Connect 2025 livestream. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss and The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu both delve into cosmic horror while offering unique gameplay experiences.

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, developed by ACE Team, is a four-player cooperative survival game. Known for surreal titles like Zeno Clash and The Eternal Cylinder, ACE Team is expected to bring its signature style to the Lovecraftian mythos. The game is set to launch in 2025.

Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss

Meanwhile, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is a single-player adventure from Big Bad Wolf, the studio behind The Council and Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong. Set in 2053, it follows an investigator uncovering mysterious disappearances at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. Built with Unreal Engine 5, the game is slated for a 2026 release.
